This is an equi-potential platform and serves 2 purposes.

1. It provides a platform for the exchange of surges to occur without affecting the equipment. Every protection device installed on this platform is done so in a way that the inductances of bonding leads are reduced. Thus good protection will be afforded, even if there is a poor earthing system. Provision is made for the protection of power, analogue or digital lines and telephone management systems.

2. The platform also provides the connection medium between the PABX and Telkom.
